Hi there! my name is Jarrod Semchuk, here’s a little look into what makes me who I am. I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Kamloops where I found a deep love for what the Okanagan/Interior has to offer! I was raised in a very supportive and hard-working family, where core values were instilled in me from a young age. My family is extremely close and this has been an important lesson for me to carry with me in life- value time with loved ones and always be there for them.
Now about my family dynamic: I have a brother that is three years older than me, an amazing mom, and a hardworking dad. My parents have sacrificed so much for my brother and I, just to give us the best chance to succeed and be happy. My brother Brendan happens to be my best friend, role model, and inspiration. All I ever wanted was to be a hockey player like my brother. However, hockey does not define either of us, now both ex-hockey players, I have been able to reflect on why I wanted to be like him as a person more importantly. Brendan is a down-to-earth, hard worker, that has had to face extremely hard diversity. He looked over me as a younger brother and has always wanted to help mould me into a great person. The things I am most proud to showcase in life are my work ethic, my ability to persevere, and to treat people with the utmost respect no matter who they are! Now onto my amazing parents, I would not be where I am today without the endless amount of sacrifices, lessons, and support they have given me. The thing I have wanted to do from a very young age was be able to show my parents my success and happiness- and hopefully, one day buy them a house in Maui.
Personally, I have a large list of passions including golfing, travelling, hiking, and fishing that I enjoy in my free time. However, hockey has been the one that has stuck with me throughout my life. I grew up in the arenas watching my brother play and knew right away that hockey was the sport that I wanted to strive in. I played all of my minor hockey in Kamloops, where I was able to meet some of my best friends still to this day. In addition to the lasting family relationships made, hockey was what I wanted to pursue, and I would put anything into it to succeed. After my younger playing years I was drafted by the hometown Kamloops Blazers-this was a great accomplishment, and a dream come true. I spent my teenage years playing for Kamloops and partaking in the KIBHIT tournament which we won! After deciding to try and pursue the school route in hockey, I joined the BCHL Salmon Arm Silverbacks. Hockey a massive part of my life and after I decided to stop playing, I did not leave the game empty-handed. This sport taught me endless lessons including; building relationships, discipline, punctuality, teamwork, taking constructive criticism, and always wanting to learn.
Why real estate? I gained a huge respect and curiosity for the real estate business growing up as I had people in my life that were agents themselves, the ability they portrayed to meet new people, travel, and grow a personal business was appealing to me. I think the main key that stood out to me and why I wanted to get my license was the long-lasting effect you are able to have on families. Real estate transactions are usually the biggest transaction people go through in life, and to be able to be a part of it and help them through the process is so satisfying. In my real estate career, it is abundantly clear that if you don't outwork people and don’t get out of your comfort zone then you will drown in this industry. It is my goal and purpose in my career to meet the amazing people in Kamloops and leave them with an impact that will be with them forever. I am so proud that I grew up in Kamloops and have now been afforded the ability to welcome new people to our city. I know that my hard work, personality, care, and dedication will bring the people of Kamloops a smooth real estate experience!
